Thorium

In this week's post, I have found an interesting article concerning the discontinuation of Uranium as the primary source of nuclear power. Instead they would use Thorium, which is more abundant than Uranium in-terms of radioactive elements. The Thorium would be much more effective due to the less extreme conditions that are required to harness energy from the element. However, take a look at this article and let me know what you think. Some questions to consider: Would using Thorium be more beneficial in the public's eyes? Would you feel more safe with nuclear energy if the consequences did not seem so extreme? (Hoping the consequences would never occur) And any other thoughts, well just post them as well.

  1. I believe that using a safer and more abundant material instead of Uranium would be effective. The development of methods to utilize the Thorium would be extremely useful because it would make some of the processes safer and more reliable. In addition, the usage of more sophisticated technologies would be much more beneficial because it would show constant improvement within the technology that is being used in the nuclear reactors.
